Back to Johor

It has been so many years since I came back to Johor. The last was during a university trip to NUS. But I guess that wouldn't count since we just stopped by. And this time, we're really back! Haha. The journey there took about seven to eight hours. After all the travelling previously (especially from home to campus, which also took as long), somehow, this journey didn't seem to be that long, as it would before. Just roads, rest areas and, we reached our destination.

We went to my grandmother's house. The big Pineapple statue at the junction leading into the housing area still stood proudly there. Can you guess where this is? Haha. By the time we reached, it was already quite late at night. After dinner, and some chatting with my uncle, we went off to sleep.

The next morning, we followed a bus to Singapore. Very quick. And here we were, the Sentosa Island. It still looked the same as when I went before. First, we went to the casino. My younger sister have to wait outside though. Well, of course, there were a lot of people there, adults to elderly, gambling. And smoking too, in an air-conditioned area! But, what would you expect right? They probably thought it would either keep them awake or feel less nervous.

The place had a peculiar smell to it, which I didn't like much, but as long as it didn't bother me, I guess it was fine. Oh, one more thing: the whole place was literally covered with CCTVs. In other places, one unit for the whole of a room would be considered sufficient. But here, there were hundreds. Two units may even be covering the same spot, albeit from different angles. Careful what you do there, they might even catch you farting. Just kidding, those can't capture sound nor smell. Haha.

I looked around at the tables there, stopped momentarily at a few tables where there were people crowding. Just trying to see if I could feel the excitement. Haha. But there were many games there (some even operated electronically via touch screen), and really, most of the time, I was just trying to comprehend how it was supposed to work. And no, I didn't try my hands there. I wouldn't know what's going on. Haha. All I saw was people placing their chips/bets, and then, the dealer swept all in. Some did get their chips back though. And then, there was the machine, where you pull the bar to see if you could get the pattern of similar images. They just pulled, and pulled, and pulled. I think I like computer games more. Haha.

After that, we went out, re-united with my sis, and we went for a walk around the area. It was huge, the place. Too bad though, we didn't enter the Universal Studio because the tickets were sold out for the day, I think. We got to see the outside from over the gate though. What a pity. Never mind, another time.

After lunch, we continued to stroll along the area, took pictures, of course. And I happened to come across Dr Ismail, with his family too. Haha. There were also the shops selling luxury items. A pair of shoes for a thousand dollar (Singaporean currency)?! Soon, in the late afternoon, we had to leave, because the bus would be leaving. Haha.

We haven't explored the area much. There were still many places we could go, according to my uncle. There's the beach also. We had just a short time there; one day probably wouldn't even be enough. Again, never mind. Another time. Haha.

Back at home, we were just tired, we slept for the whole evening. At night, dinner and chats with our relatives. The next day, my mom and sis made dumplings with my grandma and her friend. After that, we went to a Malay wedding of a neighbour. And at noon, we had to wave goodbye. My sis had some academic stuff to be attended to.

Another time then.
